Like the turret-like rooftop terraces we find in Renaissance homes, Altana is a table design that accepts no boundaries – round all over, with no beginning nor end. Volume acting as a base and a flat tabletop – a depiction of the “terrace” from which objects can view their surroundings without the risk of falling.
This elegant table trio belongs to the new collection of MMairo - a Tuscan-based design studio established in Carrara. There, they produce furniture and objects made from superior quality marbles which are then handed to local artisans for the hand-finish process. The company takes its name from the etymological origin of marble - the Greek verb "marmairo" to shine - a clear homage to the artistic material par excellence, the platonic ideal of beauty.
