The early Kelims rugs were woven by nomads - using them as floor covering, blankets, or as hanging panels for their tents. They were produced by tightly interweaving the warp and weft -  two basic components used in weaving to turn thread or yarn into fabric. These technic strands of the weave produce a flat surface with no pile. Endless motifs are represented and these variations have specific meanings, a widely used motif is the Elibelinde - a stylish female figure symbolizing motherhood and fertility. Several motifs hope for the safety of the weaver's family from the evil eye representing a triangle package containing a sacred verse, stating for an amulet as represented here.
